MORRISON AND MARY WILEY LIBRARY BORROWING POLICY

6/05/06

Registration requirements

Residents of Elmwood Township enjoy the use of the Morrison and Mary Wiley Library which is a public township library and are not taxed for that service at this time.  The revenue which supports the library is primarily derived from the Morrison and Mary Wiley farm, which the library received as the result of an endowment from the late John E. Wiley.  Those people living within the jurisdictional boundaries of Elmwood Township need pay no fees to be eligible to receive a library card.  Library cards for residents of Elmwood Township are renewed every two years without additional fees provided the library card holder continues to reside within the boundaries of Elmwood Township and is a patron in good standing.

As a resident card holder, the borrower identified on the valid borrower’s card may physically take his or her library card to another library to borrow materials.  Those materials are the responsibility of the individual who borrows them and are subject to all of the fines, rules, and regulations of the lending library.  Often libraries limit the borrowing privileges of reciprocal borrowers and it is best to establish local rules and procedures before making your selections.

Individuals residing beyond the jurisdictional boundaries of  Elmwood Township and not within the boundaries of another public library and who do not own property within Elmwood Township, may purchase a non-resident fee card for the price of $60.00 per year.  This fee entitles the entire family to use the Morrison and Mary Wiley Library.  The annual library card fee for a family or individual who lives in the Elmwood Community Unit School District No. 322 area is $22.00

If an individual resides outside of Elmwood Township, but owns property within Elmwood Township, upon presentation of the most recent tax bill for that property, a non resident library card will be issued without a fee provided that this privilege is extended to only one such non resident for each parcel of such taxable property.

Children under the age of 17 must have a parent’s signature on any initial application for a library card.  Children are eligible for their own library card when they enter school.  Individuals will be issued an adult card when they turn 18 years old.
