As of Friday, January 15th the library moved back to open hours inside the building with no appointment times. We will be open on M, T, Th & F 1:00-5:00 PM, W 10:00 AM-5:00 PM & Sa 9:00 AM-1:00 PM. Please call 309-742-2431 if you have any questions or email us at elmwoodlib@gmail.com. Please stop by and see us soon!
EVERYONE (over age 2) entering the building will be REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK THAT COVERS THE MOUTH AND NOSE and use hand sanitizer as soon as you enter the building. For those who choose not to wear a mask or are medically unable to do so, the library staff will be happy to continue to place your bag of books outside for pick up. This policy will be enforced diligently and staff will refuse entry to anyone not wearing a mask.
There will be wellness screening questions (on the door that you must be able to answer no to all of the questions to enter) about symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g., fever, cough, difficulty breathing, sneezing) before anyone may enter the building.
Our capacity level is 10 people inside the library at a time, so if we reach that number we will ask you to wait in your car until patrons leave.
All returns should be made in the drop box. No returns will be accepted within the library building. Reusable book bags will also not be allowed within the library. Library staff will provide you with a bag(s) for your materials when you check out. If you have bags at home that you would like to give back to the library, please place them in the drop box. We will quarantine and re-use.
We will still offer pickup services, so just let us know if you would like to pickup your order on top of the drop box. If you would like to browse online and place holds, please see the information below. Once your order is ready you may pick it up inside or on the drop box. If you need any help, please call or email.
We ask that you please be careful about the number of items you are touching and place any item that you touch and decide not to check out in one of the open tubs in the library. Items will be quarantined. We want you to look at items you are interested in!
Anyone entering the building will be required to provide their name(s) and phone number(s) for contact tracing purposes. This information will not be shared with anyone and will only be used by library staff to contact you should we be informed that someone who had been in the library tested positive for COVID-19.
If you have a fine to pay, you will need to place the cash or check in an envelope (please ask a librarian for one) and place the envelope in the quarantine tub. No change will be given, but a credit will be added to your account if change was due to you.
These procedures are in place to keep our patrons and staff members safe. We thank you for your understanding and your diligence in helping us prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
As of March 1, 2021, the library will begin to charge fines again for overdue materials. We have been fine free discharging everything since we re-opened the drop box in June 2020. We continue to quarantine everything that is returned to the library and have set the catalog, so it doesn't begin to consider the item overdue until that quarantine is over. If you have any questions, please use the contact us button above or call Michelle at 309-678-0271. Thank you in advance for your understanding!
RSA Catalog-Browsing Online
When you are in RSA Catalog, please set the library as Morrison & Mary Wiley Library (no eBooks) if you are looking for a DVD, Audio or Print Book then you will be able to see if what you are looking for is owned by our library and place a hold for it. As you will see there are sometimes multiple entries for one item, so look through each entry to see if we own the item and place the hold where our library shows up. If you are looking for eBooks or Audiobooks on Axis 360, Libby or Overdrive, then you will go to Morrison & Mary Wiley Library. If you are looking to see what books we have in a series or about a subject you may enter the series name or the subject instead of the items title or the author. This is especially helpful if you want to have books about bugs to read to your children. By entering bugs in the subject line then Morrison & Mary Wiley Library (no eBooks) you will be able to see all of the audios, DVDs & books we have in our collection about bugs (both Fiction and Non Fiction). If you have any questions, please let us know.
Inter Library Loan (ILL)
If you are looking for an item that our library does not own you may set the library as All RSA (no eBooks) to place a hold for the item from another library. Inter Library Loan (ILL) is a great resource for the library to have. It means that we are able to get you almost any library item that you want. RAILS (our library service) pays for delivery between libraries, so your item will arrive in a few days to a few weeks (usually). If you have an email on your account then you will receive an email letting you know that your item is available for pick up. If you do not have an email on your account then we will call you. If you have any questions, please let us know.
Reciprocal Borrowing
Reciprocal borrowing means that you may use your library card at any library to check out items (it is easiest to do in the area with other libraries who use the RSA Catalog). Those with cards from other libraries may check out items at the Morrison & Mary Wiley Library.
At this time, the library is not accepting book donations as we have run out of space to store the donations. If you have a book donation you would like to make, please check back. We thank everyone for their book donations that stock our sale racks & little free libraries!
Please see our new tobacco-free property policy effective 9/14/2020 on the policies page.
