The Morrison and Mary Wiley Library has partnered with Hult Center for Healthy Living to adopt a tobacco-free property policy effective 9/14/2020, thereby prohibiting any use of a tobacco product, including cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, pipes, waterpipes (hookahs), and chewing tobacco anywhere on the premises.

The Morrison & Mary Wiley Library is dedicated to providing a welcoming, healthy, and safe environment for community members and staff. Due to acknowledged health hazards arising from exposure to secondhand smoke and aerosol, it is the policy of the Morrison & Mary Wiley Library to provide a tobacco-free environment for community members and staff. Community members are encouraged to be responsible for their personal comfort and safety and to ask any person whose behavior threatens their comfort to refrain. Those who violate the policy will be asked to stop using tobacco on the property.

For a number of years Hult Center for Healthy Living has assisted businesses, colleges campuses, events, parks, and multi-unit housing properties in strengthening and adopting tobacco-free policies by providing no-cost consultations, resources, signage, and more throughout Tri-county (Woodford, Tazewell, Peoria) through the Illinois Tobacco Free Communities program. If interested in receiving assistance with adopting a policy and signage for a space you want to be tobacco-free, call Hult Center for Healthy Living at 309-692-6650, or reach out to Health Education Specialist, Jessica Johnson at jjohnson@hulthealthy.org.
